Recursive rectangle / triangle subdivision, each cell hatched, cross-hatched or nested at its own tone.
Pens
Quilt patches use color to distinguish their fill tones. Starts with 4 pens and works with anywhere from 1 to 8.
Settings
Cells, Max depth, Min cell size (mm), Stop chance, Split randomness, Diagonal splits, Gap (mm), Outline cells, Hatch, Cross-hatch, Concentric, Blank, Hatch angles, Darkest spacing (mm), Lightest spacing (mm), Tones.
The preview uses the default settings on A4. Press R in the app for random variations. The SVG export is in millimetres with one Inkscape layer per pen, so it works with the AxiDraw extension, vpype and saxi.
